Thursday Things that Must Go!

1. Associates who require constant validation.  You're a lawyer for hell's sake.  Act like it.  Own it.  Make a fucking decision and run with it.  Stop second guessing yourself.  If boss doesn't like what you've drafted/decided/said, you will know it.  Own your decision, back it up with fact, and run with it.  That's what attorneys do and sometimes they're wrong, but willy-nilly they are NOT.

2. Reprimanding employees in front of clients.  Boss #1 yelled at an associate today, in front of the client, for a good five minutes.  Needlessly.  Associate didn't know what she did was wrong and the whole situation could have been handled discretely and without tears.

3. Associates who cry at work.  You're an attorney now. You're going to get your ass handed to you by bosses, clients, judges and sometimes even court clerks.  Put your big girl panties on and suck it up buttercup.

What are your things that must go?  Play along in comments!

Things that must GO!

1.  There is a local radio ad running here for the Primary Children's hospital where the parent is talking about how much fun their child is having and then how life goes to shit and during the monolog, the parent speaks the word "hashtag" as if what you are hearing is their tweet about the kid.  i.e.

Happy 4th birthday Liza #lovinglife. So tired today that's not normal #maybeshesgettingsick Doctor found a tumor #worried 6 hour surgery #whatatrooper last lukemia treatment ever #backtonormal thank you primary childrens #ourhero

a: only assholes and those of us who are trying purposly to annoy our children speak the word hashtag.

b: speaking hashtag on the radio doesn't work and sounds stupid

c: she sums it up perfectly:

Make it stahp!!

Thursday Things that Must Go

1. Employees who refuse to follow instructions.

2. Employees who refuse to follow instructions and then sound like an idiot on the phone trying to represent the firm.

3. Employees who refuse to follow instructions and then sound like an idiot on the phone trying to represent the firm in a matter that they have zero experience with and I am 100% sure the person on the other end of that phone call knew as well.

Believe in yourself sugar pants, because the rest of us think you're an idiot.

Thursday Things that Must Go!

1. boredom must go.  I'm dying over here.  I have plenty to do, yet no desire to do it.  Even the news is boring today.

2. being tired must go. I'm very tired today. I woke up at 4:03 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep until a little after 6 and then got up at 7:30 a.m.

3. being broke must go. I am tired of not being able to pay my bills. It causes me great anxiety and sleeplessness.  See No. 1 above.

Feel free to add your things that must go in the comments.  :-)

Things that Must Go!

I think I'll implement a new feature here.

Thursday Things that Must Go!

In no particular order (the list is short this week):

1. The speed police who drive exactly the speed limit in the fast lane.  I'll take my chances with a ticket asshole. It's the BIG pedal!

2. Air conditioning wars.  There IS a happy medium!  I turn it up, they turn it down.  Here is a newsflash!  My hands should not freeze when I type at work! I should not have icicles immediately appear on my boobs upon stepping out of the shower!

3. Weevils.  Oddly, in the 9.5 years I lived in Arizona, I didn't encounter a single one. Now that I'm back in Utah, I found the little fuckers in two boxes of Rice a Roni and a bag of rice.  I forgot that when we lived here before I kept all my grains in a glass jar or in the freezer (except for Bisquick which I keep the box in a freezer bag in the refrigerator).  Anyway, I hate bugs and especially bugs in my food.  It saddens me there is a need for webpages explaining how to get rid of and/or prevent them.

Please feel free to add your things that must go in the comments.  Or, better yet, add them to your blog and link here!

Happy Thursday!
