On this day in HIstory

On this day in history, February 12, 2012 to be exact, I was sitting in a hotel room in Sandy, Utah, waiting for the dramas to arrive because they'd spent the night with their older sister and her husband, so we could drive back home to Arizona.

As I sat there, looking out the big picture window, watching big fat fluffy snowflakes the size of 50 cent pieces fall and float about the sky, looking at the majestic Wasatch Mountains covered in snow, I longed so badly to stay.

The thought of driving back to the scorching desert did not appeal to me in the least. This was my home. These were my people.  We were in town to celebrate my brother in law's retirement from Adult Probation and Parole after 20+ years.

As TheEx and I sat there, watching out the window, drinking our coffee, chatting with my other brother, I looked over and said "I want to move home."

TheEx looked at me.  He said "we just paid the second half for the swimming pool.  We have a life in Arizona."

I said I knew that. But it wasn't a life I wanted anymore.

He said "you have two years left of law school."

I said I knew that too.  And "I don't care. When I graduate, I want to come home."

He looked at me for a long minute.  I stared out the window watching the snow flakes drift like a feather on wind.

He said "I do too."

And just like that, the decision was made to move home upon graduation.

What I didn't know was that seven short months later, my life would turn upside down.  Because I'd learn about affair number one.
